tomorrow is the last day that we are suppose to change our home windows rivet from aluminium to steel ones.

i am angry. why?

because i was almost cheated of $620 for changing something that i dont need to change at all. i have put a $100 downpayment before work begins. and when i found out that i did not need to make any changes and confirming it with the HDB people (with their damm attitude..."oh your block ah...dont have to change') i call the contractor and had a big argument with him, threathening to even call the police cos he is cheating me. it was stated in thier promotional leaflet, FREE INPSECTION, but he insisted that i should at least pay him some money for his time. not wanting to go on fighting with him, i said ok, i will pay him the $40 he ask for. the HDB people told me that they have sent out letter (or something) or i should have check the website as it was mention there. i told them i have checked everthing...but i don't see anything telling me i don't need to change. again that stupid attitude...."should have lah... no letter means no need to change"....huh??? what????

how did this happen? why didn't HDB inform me that my block don't need to change any riverts at all! What if i had gone ahead and did the changes? who will pay me back my money? i stay in a 4 room HDB falt not on landed property, i am not rich. even if i am rich, i don't think i want to waste that kind of money.

finally, when the dealine to change the rivert looms near, they decided to send us a letter telling us that some one from HDB will come to our block with a contractor to do inspection. you may have guessed it, only the contractor came...with no personal for the HDB joining him in the inspection.

so now, HDB is paying half what the contractor is charging me to fix up some loose window riverts. total bill now $17.00 and plus the damm $40 i paid the other contractor earlier.

what the hell is all this stupid need to change and dont need to change!!! i dont understand. all i know is if the window do fall off...i will be fine and even go to jail for it.

question: why is it that HBD did not make know to us earlier (much earlier) that our block sont need to make any changes?

i pity the poor soul in my block i heard paid over $1000 to get their window fixed!

anyway, i need to get use to this stuff. that's life, and don't get too upset.
