sometimes...i feel i float too close to the political arena.....dangerously.....
but i feel i speak from the heart..... cannot fault me for that.
like what i read in an article.... its asking MPs to speak out for the people. i mean thats the job of the MPs not to go along the party lines. maybe these new MPs have never have a political fight. many of them are walkover winners. many are also not from poor families. they have no experience of waht political fight are all about.
we need MPs with vision, with guts to go againist the flow. to speak for the people. i eman thats waht they are elected for....then again, many are walk overs.....not really elected.
i mean, honestly, does all the MPs in parliament thinks that the buget was flawless? is GST increase a popular policy? is the pay rise for MPs justifiable?
are they among the people. well i hardly see my MP during the 'lull' period. i only saw him once in my estate during election, he came to me and say hi mr so and so...please elect me.... not that he knows me....his assistant came to me 3 mintues before his arrival with a card, and on that card is printed my name. so it was a 2 second thing...... he come, he speak, and he disappeared. poof! oh and he won!
have you heard of negative comments form any backbenchers? all i read is good intention policy, generous budget.....all things good.....
have the MPs ever sit down and really think what any increase would mean to a poor family? even for middle income earners..... it may be a 2% hike, little to them but it mean hell to the lower income people. a 5 cents increament means a great leap for many.
why is it that no one ask...should public transport be profit driven? for that matter, should anyhting public be profit driven?have they taken the bus during peak hours, smelling eveyones arm pits? nope. they come with their entourage, pre announced.... so everything is well prepared for them. have they taken the bus during a heavy downpour? have they personally experince the jam on the road when they formulate the ERP pricing?
so what if there are offset pacakges? but i seriously think that the increase in living expenses out weigh these packages. does it mean a good economic outlook means increasing everything? how many more millions before its enuf? i mean private sectors are motivated by profits, the more the pay the CEO, the more he have to produce results.
Political leaders are different. they must first have the passion to serve the people..NOT motivated by money. if he or she thinks that the money should come hand in hand with it, then, i am sorry to say, you are not suited to be a political leader.
cos if the econony is good, the lower to middle level of people will not be making so much noise about living here.
i agree with one ST writer...the MPs should move beyond cheerleading.....this self praise is off-putting.
every bill every policy is passed...hardly a fight or a debate. its so sad. i appreciate mr chiam see tong now. although he fumbles, i guess we have to forgive him for he lack support to get thing done. but he dare. he fight and preserved. i salute him.
from the papers.... "Former PAP MP Hwang Soo Jin, 71, related how a doctor had surprised him by asking why Parliament had bothered to debate the budget when the government had already decided to implement it. "...how true. at least that is what i felt.
i think i will challenge the MPs who get their increament, to donate that portion out, yes 100% of that increament , to the poor and needy. mind you, that will truely be really a budget of love and compassion... in the word of one of the MP....a budget that is incredibly generous.
while i appreciate what the government have done for us so far, i would alos appreciate if they spare a thought for the less fortunate, the strugglers and the poor....... and there are many of them, and i mean majority.
i feel like i am one step closer to the opposition
another useless thought
