i am so one step into joining the opposition!!
on sunday, i brought myself the first copy of the opposition HXXXXR newsletter!!
and so i thought i was on my way to the party's headquarter to sign on as a member.... and put my money where my mouth is!
i was excited, i was raring to go, i want to give the government a good fight!
it cost $1, but i only have 60cents with me at that time, so she say 'no problem, any amount you have will do..."
i thought, ah.... compassion for poor people... like me, nice move!
so i read with interest.. trying to understand what they are doing as an opposition.
there are a few writers in there that have no names. and i guess, a lot of them have not much of substance except what the taxi uncles and hawkers aunties are saying... they talk about no fear of the government, but then, why the writers are anonymous? fear? a slap in their own face?
now i am not too sure if i want to join the opposition leh...
yes bread and butter issues are important, but what about having a vision for singapore? no use harping on it. have concrete plans. like what they plan to do if and when they take over the government? do they have the people to form a government? why think only not to give the government a smooth return to power?
they say the government fail the people cos the old are not getting enough from their cpf. but i asked... what is their solution?
they say government are no helping the poorer people of the country, i ask what do they plan to do, to get these people out of the situation?
i ask can they take over the government today and run the country better than the present government?
i ask, what will be their foreign policy be like?
i ask, what are the concrete plans for the future of this country we call home if they become government.
i ask, do they have the people and talents to form a good government? a competent one?
my answers...nothing. they have no answers whatsoever except criticisms, no action.
i guess their agenda comes election time is to go with bread and butter issues. stir what is close to the peoples heart, nothing of much substance like the newsletter.
how can they attract younger and more highly educated voters? such is the sad state of the opposition.
oh well.... i may still join them, i am still thinking ..... will i? will i not?
another useless thought
