foreign talent.....
i am really not against it, but i cannot help but wonder....
i read the papers the other day, this handicapped lady was working at this place... she earns $100 a month and her transport cost alone cost $90.... $10 left... what about her meals? how much can you do with $10????
i mean do you want to blame people for shunning these types of work - low pay and long hours? its not even enough to feed one person.... but if you have a family? aged parents? and if you are sick??
seriously, $10, if i maximised it, i may be able to last a month? surviving on just rice and soya source at one meal a day....
today, we have so many chinese nationals working here...they are really everywhere. throw a stone and you will probably hit a chinese national and not a sillyporean!
i just noticed that the cleaners around my house are chinese now, gone are the indian nationals... are they even cheaper?
cost of operating a business is so high, employer don't really have a choice but to get these chinese nationals in, cos they are cheap and low in maintenance! they will just work and work and work, and when contract is up they pack up and go home a rich man!! while we, the poor sillyporeans becomes poorer.... and jobless....
there was this articles sometime back, that says expats are happy working here! its safe... good environment...blah blah and blah...... i mean would you be sad if your rent and transport are paid for, if you have children, theie education are also taken care of, you get free tickets to go back home once a year etc etc.... everything is taken care of by the company!! you get your pay and just bank it in untouched.... i would be happy... i won't complain.... would you?
an expat once told my wife, if they ever were to quit their job here or retires, they will go back to their homeland at an instant...sillypore is too expensive...
so tell be how happy really are the expats here..... and all with all these...cost of living is getting higher and higher.... there is no end in sight.
another useless thought.
