i was like thinking the whole night if i should write and blog about this.... well even if i should not have.... i am still doing it.

yes...after a long 48 years wait, we have finally done it, we have ping-ponged it!

we have finally won another silver medal in the beijing 2008 olympics!!!

yes i am happy for singapore....BUT i am not proud at all.... not a least bit.

cynical you might say...but i cannot help it, i am not bashing them. i just blog what i feel.

we run the sport community like we run the country - "win at all cost". been number one is everything and everything. and so we got kids from china and then we gave them citizenship so that they can play for us.... with our money!! we send china born people and indonesia born people there instead of our local boys and girls.... yap...we can spend loads of money to train them, but we cannot afford to train local people......

why?

we are not good enough? i agree, but is winning everything? where is the glory??

i remember ang peng siong..... he was one of the best swimmer.... a real medal hopeful in the olympics... what kind of support did he get? our first medal sportsman...tan howe liang...what did he get before and after his achievement in the 1960 olympics?? these are jsut some sad stoty of of local sports people...buried....

funny that of the 9 winners standing on the podium yesterday, for table tennis... 7 were of china origin..... and i bet they are singing the china national anthem in their hearts.... and for their families....are they cheering on their own country or their children donning another color playing for another country?

why send a indonesia boy there and he crashes out one the first round but not our own local bred boy who may also crash out on the first round? don't you think our local boys and girls deserve more? i cannot remember the singapore badminton player's name..the local kid.... he is just as good as the foreign guy, if not better! for all you know.... he/she (these foreign talents) will be going back to their own country once its all over.....

i rather we lost in all the events... i feel proud of all the sports people.... simply because they represent my country... to be there is a already a proud moment for me...at least and winning a medal adds to the icing on the cake!

yes we have won the silver medal after a 48 years wait... yes i am happy.... but i rather wait another 100 years for our own local sports people (born and bred here) to win a medal rather than an import.

soon we will giving citizenships to americans swimmers, track and field altheletes, basket ball players, south american footballers, sports men and women from russia for gymastic.... cos with this medal success....its will give them the 'rights' to buy talents..... cos it is proven the right strategy!...and they wil say these foreign talents pushes local talents.....yes... they will push our local talents OUT of the sports arena!

until then i will just remain happy....but not proud. these foreign talents patriotic? nah..... don't think so.

lets all just be happy for the winners.... and don't be proud of our achievement..... cos its really NOTHING to be proud of except with the huge amount of money we have spend to win this piece of metal!

in a few years time we may not even have a local sport community.
