the pasture is always greener on the other side.
i suppose its true to a certain extent. this is why jealousy is also know as green eyes.
when your eyes are filled with green....than naturally, the other side or everywhere looks greener except for the patch of green that you are standing on. its called envy.
we always look at other people to judge ourselves. when we see others doing better, we envy and we curse. then we sulk and asked why.... then we blame God - "God is just so unfair!"
we never look into our own short comings or what about the people worst than us?
the other day, i saw a not so well off family, when i see them and i can tell that they are really happy with what they have, a family that is intact and filled with love although they don't have lots of money. they make do with what they have and are satisfied.
but then, there are those who are also rich.... are they really happy? or is it just on the surface? they fight for money.... property and all. siblings against siblings.... children against parents...contesting wills....
greed? unsatisfied wants? or simply no love?
i was thinking... money may be the reason why there seem to be harmony... cos without money problems, a lot of issues will not surface. yap, i say will not surface, it does not mean that it is not there. its only through a crisis that you know who your real friends and family.
cos all they ever talk about is better jobs, party, vacation, food and good wine.... cars... golf..... and all the luxury in life. they never experience pain and hardship. cos they never had money problems. they never know what a 10 cents saving is to a poor family. problems maybe swept under the sofa.
now i am not saying all well off people are like that. i am just thinking if there are really true happiness.... cos i see more happiness in a less well off family. i am thinking if we take out the money in the equation...will there still be happiness and love?
i stopped been envious a long time ago.... i still see the greener pasture on the other side, but i don't die with envy. i know and have learned to be satisfied with what i already have, whatever comes my way, its God's gift to me. i am happy with what God have given to me. and i thank God for this. all i want is to be healthy and happy.
if you have...give to the poor, especially children in the third world.
God Bless
another useless thought.
