i read this article in Sunday Times a few days ago... it was really scary...
"I'm going to die on Monday at 6.15pm"... its an article about the right to take your own life... euthanasia or mercy killing. in it, the author talks about the time leading to his mother death. its an interesting read.
strictly speaking, God does not allow mercy killing, or taking of one's own life. God gives you life and it is precious and you have a mission on earth. Yap, this is my religion, and my belief, and therefore abortion is also wrong.
on the flip side, everyone wants to die with dignity. we don't want others to see us in pain, take care of us, worry and stress out and then watch us get weaker and weaker by the day and then eventually slowly die.
i was thinking, if we cannot plan our birth, maybe its nice to be able to plan our death. Many people would love to control their own destiny and this would be a good opportunity. death is real and it is something we cannot control... then, but now we can.
i for one, don't wish to live pass 65. i want to retire at 60, enjoy my life for the next 5 years and then on the day i decided to die, i end it there and the.... like the article headline,"I'm going to die on Monday at 6.15pm"
i can plan for everything in the next 5 years. i will travel round the world, do all the things i wanted to do and to achieve, spend all my money and not worry if i will need it a day longer than the date i have decided to go..... i can plan my own funeral, my obituary, the flowers i like, the type of coffin i want, the backdrop, the bible verses i want, my niche (i can actually see where it is) ...and my invitation to people i wish will come to my funeral (just like my wedding).
this could well be the norm.... or a law by the government... and i believed that if there is ever such a bill... it will be pass. so if you have more money, you can choose to live longer, as long as you don't burden the state. if you have not much money, please choose to die as aoon as possible, and if you are sick, please die NOW.
this is more real in time to come. the world is over populated. we encourage birth, we also need to encourage death to balance it. the society we live in today don't recognised senior people. they are of no value but a burden to the society. some go as far as to imply that senior people can retire in some other cheaper country so as not to burden the country because medical and cost of living is high, no matter how much you have contributed to the country, please GO! get the hell out of here!! we don't want you here...unless you are rich.
this may sound cruel, but you cannot deny that it is a reality. a reality so real, its frightening.
so this is my plan, based on current situation minus inflation. retire at 60, sell my car and house and everything worth money. take the money, buy a small and cheap flat. have a monthly 'salary' of $4,500 for the next 5 years. then add another $6000 per year for travel. my funeral will cost no more than $6,000. as i am still alive, so i can bargain with the supplier, ask for discount and freebies! if by the time i am to die and i still have some moeny left over, i will give it all to world vision where they help children in the third world.
then i will apologies to everyone i may have hurt knowingly and unknowingly. i will seek forgiveness and then reconcil with everyone i know. i want to leave this world in peace and full of love. there must be no anger, hate or undone business.... just love and more love.
hmmm..... this could be a new business venture. not a happy one, but a money making venture. if i make hell lots of money, then i may have to push back my death date a bit..... hmmmm ... scary...
another useless thought
