i had a rather intelligent conversation with a nun a few weeks back....

we were talking about some third world country.... she was telling me that the people there are so deprive of everything... food, life, education and everything.... it is just miserable living there. there is practically no future there.

women a doom.... much like their political leader who is under house arrest....

they yearn for freedom and democracy and a better live for themselves and their children...and the development of their country.... but the military juanta is merciless.....

what better way to stop revolt by giving your fellow countrymen the bare minimum to survive.... so all day and night, you will be just thinking of the next meal or the next day.... never too far.....

but then the discussion we had and the issues are not about these juanta....

it is about us.... living here.....

we have taken everything here for granted.

see how we adults waste food..... you see how our children waste food.... ordering a lot but throwing away just as much...and worst, parents condone to such actions!!

today's children are rude, obnoxious, shelfish and what not. they place themselves too high... but do we blame the children? or are the parents at fault? to compensate the time not spent with the kids, they use material things and money to offset their guilt..... they just give... and give and no questions asked.

our children today are all ill equip to handle any harsh conditions... we complain at the slightest inconvenience or discomfort. you can see it in the papers.... children are smoking, drinking engaging in pre marital sex.... runner for loan sharks...gamble... fight... form gangs..... sniff glue, take drugs...... and what not.....

they may be too bored with life.... they find them meaningless......

what kind of values and morales are we teaching our future generation?

do we treasure what we have and have achieve for the past 44 years? maybe its high time we start to reflect on ourselves.....

look at the world around us..... the people who are suffering.... it may not be people for the third world..... it could be our neighbours... our friends... and even our families.... there are many less fortunate people in our midst....

learn to appreciate.... smell the flowers.....love peace.... love your life......

most of all love God.....

another useless thought
